It seems your variable was padded with double byte blanks x'0020'.
When defining your variable with varying length (as you've already
done),
these blanks will be ignored
That being the case, what could cause an A field (32000A) to be padded thus?
Even if they were as you describe (and I'm not saying they weren't as I have
no clue), shouldn't they have been converted to CCSID 37 (or maybe the job's
CCSID) due to the nature of the "A" field attribute? Or doesn't it work
that way?
