The best way to save face is to keep the lower part full

Upon closer read of the prior IBM link, I see that sed is not in that
gnu-utilities link. I've found sed for AIX but it's an RPM. It's also part
of AIX Toolbox, but that's another RPM.<sigh> This will take longer than
I'd hope.

This is the end-result I hope to achieve, and the actual output from a linux
system at my home:

a
bc
