I know. That's generally related to activation group creation but
could also be due to the number and size of any service programs
referenced. What was the activation group setting on your called
program?
My comment was more directed to OPM CALLs which I had thought was
apparent from the reference to CPF but I see how the mention of ILE
may have confused things. My recollection is that ILE external program
calls were SO slow that significant work was done to improve the CALL
code path and as a side-effect OPM call performance was also improved.
My real point is that you can't just accept things that may or may not
have been true some releases ago, nor can you discard a technique
because someone says it's slow without also knowing exactly how it was
tested or determined to be slow.
