At any rate, I think I've found a workable answer: make the existing
2000-byte command buffer (already an array in a DS) a
multiple-occurrence data structure. 9 occurrences would be enough to
more than cover the subject at hand, and only a large QRYSLT clause
would have any possibility of exceeding the size of a single occurrence.
Or even better: only two occurrences, but make them 9000 bytes.
