Oh, God, I think I'm going to be sick. Geez, there was even a CCP emulator on the /34. I almost went back into teaching when my boss told me I was going to have to learn CCP and I saw what it was.

Jerry,
The PRUF concept actually originated under CCP on the S/3.
Can you remember back THAT far? lol
Do you remember SUBR92?

On the /34 and /36 displays could be so slow that we have something called PRUF (something-read-under-format) where the procedure wrote the first panel while the program was actually loading. Never used it myself, but it was another "trick" one could use to get around system bottlenecks.

Often times the WHOLE file is loaded into the subfile and presented even
before the user is given a chance to tell the program what they want. They
may only want to see Zig Ziglers stuff. And it loads from A to Z.
I know I had issues with subfile loads going from one OS release to another.
But if you are loading a page at a time, it is never an issue. Maybe with
this new chip it will never happen again with new OS releases. But the OS
keeps getting bigger...
