If isodate is a date field, this will work from V5R2 on:

MDYDATE = %dec(%char(ISODATE:*mdy0):6:0); // D'ccyy-mm-dd' to
mmddyy

ISODATE is defined in my D specs
MDYDATE is a field defined in my Display file 6.0 using a 'Y' edit code.
