Re: Sockets and Telnet

You should be aware that the Telnet protocol implements a negotiation phase
that is quite different than FTP, HTTP, or other TCP protocols. You will
need to understand the binary values being sent over the link. You might
want to review the various RFCs for Telnet.

That may be some kind of string asking what kind of terminal you are. Try
sending an ASCII string, like your user ID.

I am trying to use an RPG program create a script to connect to a MS
telnet
server and issue a few simple commands after logging in. It appears
that it's
connecting just fine, but I am not sure what to expect back and it
seems that I
am just receiving garbage back after converting it to Ascii.

I started with the TNAPI and modified it. Has anyone else been able to
do this?
