I know that true RPG IV (using modules, service programs) was presented here
years ago, and myself and a few others jumped into it, but most of the staff
did not. I don't know if IBM ever tries to get feedback from RPG shops to
see who is utilizing new functions, but I would bet the majority of shops
never used the full functions of RPG IV since it was introduced. The same
may hold true for RPG V, or free format RPG that currently exists.

I agree it would be hard to bring up data to a screen with RPG with little
to no experience.(referring to the challenge using different languages) All
you need is an echo statement with PHP. Yet once you get basic knowledge of
DDS, I would like to take that same challenge creating a basic user entry
screen. RPG and DDS would then rule, comparing it to HTML and Java Script.
But the 5250 is ugly, or as some people might say, that is DOS!
