Hi John
I think this is something to do my thread, but the subject line has changed
So here goes
this is a manual process
If customer 1 is
Richard Heinlein
123 Main st
Anytown, NY 10001
and customer 5437892 is
R Heinlein
123 Main St
Anytown, NY 10001
you CANNOT guarantee that these are one and the same, because R Heinlein
could be his wife Roberta
The only true way for this merge to be accomplished is if the customer
themselves says so, so in this case, a user would be responsible to merge
these 2 records because the customer has requested to do so. If there is
other such records that the customer wants to be merged, then customer
record 6873222 would also need to be merged with customer 1, but as a
seperate process.

But good old Mister Murphy . . .if someone can see a hole in my
thought pattern,
Are you sure that the customer record is only in the file twice?
Is there a chance that it if in the file three times?
If so, are you going to make two passes through the file to do the
merge?
