UNION by default will do a UNION DISTINCT Meaning that it will match
records from each select and make sure that only one record will be in the
result set. Thus taking more time to process. If you know that all
selects are going to return unique records, then it's best to specify UNION
ALL so that it doesn't look for matching records in the result set.

I have always been confused on why use UNION ALL vs. UNION. Have you just
tried UNION?
