Hi,

Does this file ever get reset?
No, you have to clear the file or remove the entries manually. Even if you
create an index over iSeries Navigator out of the Index Advice, you have to
delete this advice after. On the other hand there will be no problem, if you
decide today to clear the file completely and check (say in 2 weeks) how
many and which indexes are advised.

BTW beginning with release V5R4 all advised indexes are stored in a
physical
file (SYSIXADV) located within the library QSYS2. In this table not only
the
advised indexes are stored, but also how often they were advised and when
the last advice took place. The easiest way to analyze this proposed
indexes
is to use the iSeries navigator, but it is also possible to access this
table with SQL or Query/400. <<<<

Birgitta,
Does this file ever get reset? If you have a couple of heavy offenders in
the file and you try to fix it by creating the advised indices how then
would you know if it is working. I guess the last date it was requested
would not change anymore, but it would still show a lot of requests. There
are some on there that have a lot of requests and the date is a month old
or something along thos lines. So maybe this is a month end program
causing it? Or a not often used program? I could use sql to reset the
number I guess, but is there anything that it would screw up if that was
the case?

Thanks
