If I am doing multiple row fetches I always map the array or data structure
into a user space and declare 32766 as the size and fetch 32766 rows. The
more you read in in a single fetch, the better the performance is going to
be. The only thing you have to protect against is a query returning more
than 32766 rows which is very rare.

Mihael,

I have always used 128k when doing SQL multi row fetching. This number was
given to me by Dan Crukshank (sp?) of IBM a few years ago. If you check the
archives I know you will find at least one discussion of this topic.

Subject: Good size for multiple row fetch

Hi,

I'm using the multiple row fetch feature in my sql rpg program and am
wondering what a good size for the returning data would be (how big should
the array of my host data structure be)? Anybody a good formula?

Thanx in advance.
