I'm at V5R4, and have no way to detect the difference between VARYING(2)
and VARYING(4) on my release, so I hard code it in a constant.
If you're on 6.1 and want to avoid hardcoding, you can calculate it as
follows:
VARPREF = %addr(field:*data) - %addr(field)
