Please describe what you need to do. I don't understand why you need to
call a *PGM (as opposed to a subprocedure) recursively. Doing a *PGM
call recursively makes little sense to me.

Having said that. Instead of C, might I suggest that CL (which also
allows recursive calls) might be more palatable?
