OK, normally I see something like this and expect the compiler is correct and there is a programmer error somewhere. I'm not seeing it, though. The RPG manual and various google searches imply this should work. It's code from a vendor, so I also expect it compiled for them.
*RNF0327 30 4298 136200 The first parameter for %DEC or %DECH is not valid.
*RNF0328 30 4298 136200 The second parameter for %DEC or %DECH is not valid.
*RNF0338 20 4298 136200 The third parameter for %DEC may not be omitted when second
parameter is specified.
The code in question:
C eval strDat = %dec(newStart:*MDY)
Definition for newStart:
D newStart s d
strDat is defined in a display file:
A STRDAT 6Y 0B 20 13EDTCDE(Y)
The compiler listing of the program shows it as a 6,0 zoned field. The RPG reference manual uses a zoned field in the example, so it doesn't seem like it's something that simple that's wrong.
We're on V5R4, cume 8305. Group HIPER SF99539 level 89. I do not see any PTF groups for the compilers in WRKPTFGRP.
I searched IBM APAR and PTF but got nothing. Is this a bug? Something we missed? Not enough info?
