Hehehe... the whole MySQL for DB2 thing is going to be very interesting.

One of their first problems? The relationship between "schema" and "library". MySQL allowed two instances of the engine to create the same "schema" and then even create the same table within that "schema" with different attributes - this of course failed miserably.

Even cooler? If two people create the same schema (library) and one person then drops (deletes) that schema, it deletes all of the other user's data.

The MySQL and IBM teams then put their heads together to come up with a solution. The response? "It's a documentation problem".

MySQL data using the IBMDB2I engine is stored in iSeries physical files - he is not talking about using JDBC at all. No drivers needed. It's a new thing. Heard a lot about it at the most recent COMMON.
