Subject: Re: Why was GOTO removed from /free?

The "Structured Programming Revolution" took place in the late 1960s and
early 1970s ... by 1980, the debate was "over" ... and "structured
programming" had won the day. Very few programming languages developed
or introduced since 1980 even have a "goto" statement.

Yet, every few months, someone drags up these same old arguments, and
the debate begins anew. Is the AS/400 and RPG community really "stuck in
the past" that far behind the rest of the IT industry? Remarks such as,
"Man, that System/3 RPG II is the greatest!" come to mind. No wonder
the rest of the industry considers the AS/400 as a "legacy" system!
