Re: More than 80 columns

Manual say 8 to 80. I don't believe they can ever extend it because of
the original developers decision to have 8 to 80 as source and
anything beyond the 80 character as comment.

While i agree with you statement, i remeber that Back in RPGIII days,
column width was 80 and comments started before, so there was *lesser*
spaces. However, IBM came out with larger source aind increase column width
just changing the SRC Type and make you convert throung CVTRPGSRC.

I don't see any particulary issue creating a new RPGFREE (or something
like) type nad allowing for longer row and not need for comments in last
pos. Even me can wrote a conversion program between current format and new
format allowing past-80 text became a comment (uh-uh, just add //
before....(

While i don't like istruction that goes beyond the screen (especially since
they're nowadays much larger than in the past) i found 80 col limitation
very ugly. especially for WDSC user (which is what all of us is supposed to
move to...) Having a 19" video and use for 1/4 of is width is insane
