Hey guys, I have a subfile issue that I can't explain. Lets say that I have 25 records loaded into a subfile. I select 3 of the records to edit and press enter. The readc only reads 2 of the records like the sflnxtchg is not turned on.

SFLNXTCHG should only be used when writing or updating subfile records to make it appear AS IF the user typed something on those records. The normal use is when validating user-supplied data in a subfile record.

When initially loading a subfile SFLNXTCHG should not be active. If your description is meant to be interpreted as:
o Load subfile with 25 records
o Display subfile to user
o User types a selection character on 3 records and presses enter
o Program enters a READC loop but only retrieves 2 of the 3 records

then SFLNXTCHG is unlikely to have any bearing on the problem. If you intended a different interpretation then elaborate.

Questions:

Which 2 of the 3 records are returned by READC (1&2, 2&3, other)?

What does your READC loop look like?

Does the READC always return 1 record less than the number selected by the user?

Note: I see various other comments indicating SFLNXTCHG or READC are suspect and not to be trusted. I have NEVER had a problem when using these keywords except when I first started and did not understand how they worked. It took about 15 minutes to properly understand the relationship and since then READC has always behaved as I expected. The most likely cause of your problem is something in your code (probably the READC loop itself) and not the behaviour of SFLNXTCHG or READC.

Simon Coulter.
