How to Handle LR Indicator Return Situation In Free-Format

Use the return value of your prototyped call which you can define as a
Boolean. Then in the the called program you RETURN LR after setting it
accordingly

Something like

d get_ref PR 1 EXTPGM('RLXG04')
d 12
d 12
d lr s 1n

lr = *off ;
LR = get_ref(parm:
Parm) ;

If lr ;
....
Else ;
....
Endif ;
