Yes, an index created through SQL, it appears as a LF object.

How to add a new member when one is added to the main file the index was created against.

Thanks for the input so far.

Sharon - are you talking about an SQL index?

Hi, Sharon:

First, you need to change your logical files to allow more than one
member, e.g.:

CHGLF library/filename MAXMBRS(*NOMAX)
or
CHGLF library/filename MAXMBRS(some-number)

Then, see the ADDLFM (Add Logical File Member) command, e.g.:

ADDLFM FILE(library/lfname) MBR(lfmbrname) DTAMBRS((library/pfname
(pfmbrname)))

Each LF can have one or more members, each "over" one or more members in
the "base" PFs ...

Hope that "makes sense"?

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to handle adding a member to an index on a file. Did some testing, added a member to the main file, and the index does not automatically pull it in like a LF would.

When I dropped the index and recreated it, you cannot see if it is there when you do a WRKF command, and the total records listed went down from it's previous amount.

What is the proper way to handle this? Any help would be appreciated.

Sharon
