You've hit the nail on the head. I've used that API before and
it's quite nasty. Are you at liberty to share the code for the
RtvFldLoc() routine?


Unfortunately I'm not but you can Google for examples by others. Simon also
mentioned QUSLFLD, which at the time I did my program did not include row
and column information by I just checked the V5R4 docs and it does now.
That API would be significantly easier to use, and you are more likely to
find online examples of its use too. Here is the V5R4 docs on it from IBM:

In fact, I just noticed Jon & Susan have an example program using it in a
redpaper, starting on page 32:

It predates the addition of the row and column fields, but would be easy to
modify. I'd suggest starting with it.
