I'm using QIMGCVTI API to covert a TIFF image to spool file. The conversion
works fine and the spool file is generated. The data stream of the generated
spool file is PCL (this is one of the parameters passed to the API) and it's
compatible with HP printers.
In my system, a report (to be sent to customer) gets generated during the
day end batch and it has thousands of pages. For each customer, 4-10 pages
get printed. I need to print the above spool file generated by QIMGCVTI for
each of this customer. Which means I need to print the API generated output
inside the same spool file that is currently printed in my system. The
report that is printed in our system is AFPDS report, whereas the API
generated is PCL report. How do I merge the API generated spool file with
the another AFPDS spool file?
I tried to convert the image into spool file with AFPDS format (instead of
PCL), but couldn't make it work. When I printed the report, I got hundreds
of pages of junk data for one image. Not sure what I'm missing. But when I'm
using PCL, I'm getting the correct output of the image.
Is there any better way to combine these two reports to be printed in one
single spool file? Say for example, 4 pages of my main report should be
printed, then call API to print image as 5th page, then continue printing
pages in the main report. This would be repeated for each customer until all
the reports are generated (in one single spool file). I can't make much
alterations to the main report, so I will have to do something on the API
generated report to make it compatible with my main report. Any help on this
would be highly appreciated.
