Not only that, but without seperators (say a numeric field) 120108 could
also be the number of days since an epoch. For example, using the Unix
epoch, this would be Fri, 02 Jan 1970 09:21:48 GMT.
A general conversion utility would have to know a great deal about the
context of the date in order to make a reasonable guess. Even then, it
is highly unlikely that such a system could be 100% correct.
