Hello,

SQL doesn't pass a basic operational descriptor, unlike RPG. It is this
opdesc which lets the RPG subprocedure know how many parameters have been
passed. The same goes for some other languages (no doubt someone else will
chime in which ones they are, if you're interested...).

C and COBOL only pass opdesc if you tell them to.

CL always passes full opdesc.

RPG always passes the parm count portion of the opdesc, but will only pass the full opdesc if you tell it to.

SQL never passes opdesc.

I'm not totally sure about Java -- but I don't think it passes one.
