Emily,
As Simon has already mentioned, if your screen does not require user
input, simply add the FRCDTA keyword on the screen format and use the
WRITE opcode to display the screen. One thing I would add to his
comments is to execute the DLYJOB DLY(5) command after the write
statement. This command will give you the desire effect of showing the
screen for 5 seconds. You can call the QCMDEXC api to execute command
from RPG.

So... You code would look something like below:

Dqcmdexc Pr Extpgm('QCMDEXC')

D 3000A const
Command string
D 15 5 Const
Command string length
D 3 Options(*NOPASS)
DBCS flag

/free
write Screen1 ;
qcmdexc('DLYJOB DLY(5)' :13);
exfmt Screen2 ;
/end-free

I've looked through the dspf keywords and nothing is jumping out at

me. Any suggests on how to accomplish this?

Specify FRCDTA on the definition for SCREEN1. Issue a WRITE instead
of EXFMT. The rest is business as usual.

Simon Coulter.
