I hear there are occasional problems when a trigger program is

I've just created a new transaction file and the boss says no
trigger. The trigger on the master file already fires off all over
the place and can be a pain in the neck while developping.

I have seen far too many questions on this list for the form:

I need to do X but can't use (insert obvious method here)
because
the Boss says no.

But nowhere is it explained why "the Boss" says no or objects to the
obvious method. Do none of you question "the Boss"? Do none of you
argue with "the Boss"? Honestly, if "the Boss" is being stupid or has
no rational reason for the requirement someone should point it out. I
know I'm very direct and blunt but it is possible to point out the
error of someone's way in a polite and respectful manner (can't
believe I actually wrote that!) so are these questions the end result
of that process where you've had the argument and have to give up
with "Well, it's a stupid requirement but if that's what you
want ..." or is the question being asked without bothering to argue
against "the Boss"?

"Stupid people need to be told they're stupid--how else will they
know?"

Simon Coulter.
