I agree with Kevin. Call readdir(), then stat(). Stat will tell you
what sort of object it is.
There was a thread on the System iNetwork forums discussing how to
maximize performance in this sort of scenario. You might be interested
in reading it. (make sure you see both pages of the thread, especially
my code sample near the end)
