It is possible to do in plain RPG, but I would say that it took me something on the order of 4 weeks to do my first one. Between learning about the new printer data stream, to configuring the printer properly (both at the printer and at the System i) to the nit-picking, heavily detail oriented bit twiddling / testing cycle, it was a fair amount of work. I would say I had several hundred edit/compile/test cycles before I was done.
