I like the API docs that James have on his export procedure. I wonder
if James and other can share how their shops create and keep up with
this type of doc?

thanks

I need to allow the users to enter any of the following values as a
valid date type on a display file:

010108 // Six digit date

20080101 // eight digit ISO date type

01012008 // eight digit USA date type

01/01/2008 // ten digit USA date type

We need to do this all the time, so we wrote a handy little service
program to handle it:

Procedure definitions:
http://www.eaerich.com/docs/era_date_h

Service program source:
http://www.eaerich.com/docs/era_date

API docs:
http://www.eaerich.com/docs/era-api.html

The procedure that does what you want is called char2date(). It accepts
a 10 character alpha field that can contain a date in any of the formats
you described above and returns a DATE field equivalent.
