There are many different bar codes, some allow alphabetic characters and
some do not. I probably don't need to remind you to look at the DDS
reference for BARCODE, but you may not know about the Printing Redbooks,
which have a lot of good information on advanced printing topics.

My advice is to write a very simple bit of DDS and a test HLL program
that sends sample data to your printer. That way you can get used to
how the DDS and printer behave.
