The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

You can use a global variable to store the current state.
If you need multiple clients to call this, make each client ACTGRP(*NEW)
and the service program (*CALLER). Each separate level will have its
own stack and global state variables.
Another alternative is to not maintain a pointer to the head of the
linked list. For operations like getParent() and getChild(), your
service program only needs to know the element that the caller is
currently working with.
If you really want to be able to get back to the first element easily,
another option would be to have the caller pass a 'custTree' data
structure which has two pointers, one pointing to the first element and
one pointing to the 'current' element.
