Chris, the reason you have to export init() and eoj() is that they are
called by static-linkage which means the binder has to be able to find
them at bind time. The other procedures are called by dynamic-linkage,
so the binder doesn't need to know about them at all. The
%PADDR(prototype) references within the module can all be resolved when
the module is compiled, so those procedures don't have to be exported.
(Wondering if I have misunderstood your use of "curious" - I think you
already know all this ...)
