You said "COBOL (Mainframe)" but you did not specify what the target
environment (operating system) is -- MVS, VM, VSE, z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE?
And what release of the OS? And which mainframe COBOL compiler
version/release, etc.?
Also, you are proposing moving from essentially a 4GL (RPG) to a 3GL
(COBOL).
This might be possible for batch report programs in RPG, but I have
serious doubts about trying to convert interactive applications written
in RPG, because there are likely many other "components" such as
DDS-based display files, that would also need to be "converted" (but to
what?) Also, many RPG applications call various OS/400 APIs, etc., for
which there are no direct equivalents. And, there is NO equivalent to
"subfiles" on any IBM mainframe operating systems (not even in CICS). :-o

Hi,
I am looking for a tool to convert RPG/400 to COBOL(Mainframe).
Does any one aware of a software/tool/vendor that can automate this work?
Thanks for your help/info.

Adi
