Chapter 11 of my book 'APIs at Work, Second Edition' has 35 pages on how to use the Cryptographic APIs -- with examples in free form RPG (in addition to the same examples in RPG/400 and COBOL that can be accessed via web downloads). In addition to the basics of encryption and decryption the chapter also addresses how to use the key store to avoid keys floating around in application code.
