For me, that's way easier than learning how to write a matching records

That's an excellent point, Adam. We all tend to use the tools with
which we are familiar. For a project of this scope (simple) either
matching records or SQL would probably work. Even though I know the
cycle and have written (way too many) matching record programs, I would
never suggest that someone learn MR processing when they (such as you)
know SQL.
The reverse of the problem is that people tend to use the tools with
which they are familiar. Being an old fart I have had to get out of my
comfort zone with things such as record level access and subroutines to
learn SQL and subprocedures, respectively. That's why I like this list:
People offer different approaches to solving a problem ("Hey, I need to
look into that.").
But only (?) with a gun at my head would I venture to teach anyone MR
processing (add Level Control Breaks for real fun and excitement - woo hoo).
