One other note. There is never a guarantee that you will ever receive a
set number of bytes on a (non-blocking) read. You can tune your
connections, but you can never be sure what you will get. I've seen
several thousand byte sends get split into 5-10 different reads, and
other times the same size messages always come across in one read.


I was curious if this was an alternative (to enable increasing the
size of
the data stream received in one read of the buffer
