sorry alan, i know i probably didn't explain it well...

is it possible that a pf date field can contain some kind of null value
instead of '0001-01-01'?

because I load '0001-01-01' into a work date field and use that to check
against the pf date field in my sql statement and it produces no results
when I know there should be...

clear as mud?

Sorry Jay, I'm probably not understanding your question, but if the value
in the date field is '0001-01-01, then surely that is the default date
being used?
If you can expand upon what you are asking, it might go through my thick
skull.

how can you determine if a valid date is in a date field in an sql
statement
and not the default '0001-01-01'?
