That isn't correct.

WDSC 7 comes with VARPG & CODE v6 the same as WDSC v6.

So in WDSC v7 you've still got access to same CODE designer tool you had in WDSC v6.

Jonathan,

Designer is in a state of change right now. Works great is WDSC 6.
However WDSC 7 is out and unless you pony up some serious
money for the advanced version of WDSC so that you can beta
test the replacement for designer for IBM then you lose
designer. In summary, either you:
- Stay with a Pre 7 version of WDSC
- Pony up the cash for the advanced version
- Upgrade to 7 and lose Designer

For tutorials, there are several within the product. Check
out Help - Tutorials gallery, and some of the other option
under help. Also if you scan http://store.midrange.com/ for
wdsc you'll get a few hits.

Much more discussion on this and David is going to point us
to the WDSC list (rightfully so).

I've never really got to grips with WDSC, only using it
occasionally to
work
offline when I'm out and about or to upload source members.
Does anybody
know of any "WDSC for Dummies" type guides or tutorials that
are available
-
I'd be especially interested in finding out more about the
Code Designer
that Jerry mentions.

Thanks

Jonathan

I did the same thing, Tom: Internally-defined printer files.
The only
way to define externally-described printer files was either manually,
which can be painful, or RLU, which is more painful. When WDSc came
bundled, though, and included Code Designer, my life changed
(hallelujah!). I still wind up fine-tuning the DDS manually upon
occasion, but by then it's just a matter of adding a keyword
(HIGHLIGHT,
UNDERLINE, or such) here and there.

Is EXCPT even recognized by RSE as a free-form op-code?
Since switching
to externally-described printer files, I haven't had to use it, so I
wouldn't know.
