And the answer is in my first post to this thread...

"Specify the parameter as a fixed length with CONST OPTIONS(*VARSIZE).

The compiler will auto-magically convert the varying length to fixed length."

get QCMDEXC to ignore the 2-byte length prefix of his varying
length CmdStr field?
