If you are really desperate and have time on your hands, you could write
your own "writer", set the spool file to print immediate (or set the outq to
not spool) and capture the data on the way to the fake printer. Sounds like
a good time.

If all you need is the data...CPYSPLF work?

Subject: Accessing PRTF record data buffer

Good Afternoon everyone,

I have to modify an existing RPG (IV) program that uses O specs to generate
a report. I need to get this report data as a buffer and use it for some
other purposes. Is it possible to access PRTF record data while it is being
output to the spool? My preference would be to not touch the base report
generation logic if at all possible, and capture the final output.

Has someone done something like this?

Thanks and Regds
