Like I said, Francis, live and learn. I knew that worked with
AutoReport for RPG II, but never used it; guess I'm so neurotic that I
like specifying my positions. Heck, I won't even use relative spacing
for externally described files.

It works - if you omit the ending position, the field starts in position 1.
You can also use +001 (or + any number) in the ending position on subsequent
fields - that will print the next field <number_of_spaces> after the
previous one.
