Mike,

Since you're already creating the select statement dynamically, why not
use the filename variable in your eval statement?

C Eval sel ='Select * from ' + %trim(filename)
+
C ' where srcdta like(' + q +
C '%226%' + q + ')' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%550%' + q +') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%530%' + q + ') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%150%' + q + ') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%bytes transferred%' + q + ')

Subject
Embedded sql and parameter markers

I am trying to write an sql program that receives a file name as a parm.
I am trying to do a dynamic sql statement with a Parameter marker for
the filename. I keep getting a '? Token not valid'.

Is it possible to use a parmameter marker for the filename. I haven't
been able to find anything online or in my sql books that tells me.

Here is my sql statements.

C Eval sel ='Select * from ? ' +
C ' where srcdta like(' + q +
C '%226%' + q + ')' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%550%' + q +') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%530%' + q + ') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%150%' + q + ') ' +
C ' or srcdta like(' + q +
C '%bytes transferred%' + q + ')
'
C/EXEC SQL
C+ PREPARE #SEL FROM :sel
C/END-EXEC
C/EXEC SQL
C+ Declare CTLCURS SCROLL Cursor For #SEL
C/END-EXEC
C/EXEC SQL
C+ Open Ctlcurs using :filename
C/END-EXEC

Thanks
Michael Smith
