This is very easy to do in QShell. Somethng like this:

find /somedir -name '*.xls' | xargs rm

I would definitely NOT do this on the whole IFS, though. Remember, the
IFS is not just PC files stored on your hard drive. It also includes
your entire Windows network, NFS network, other iSeries machines, and
your traditional libraries. Not to mention components of the operating
system!

Instead, run it on particular subdirectories that you're concerned with.

If you want to discuss this further, lets take it to Midrange-L since this doesn't appear to be related to RPG programming (unless you want to discuss how you'd design an RPG program to do this?)
