We like to keep things together.

There for for PF and LF's we do:
SSSEEExxT
SSS is system mnemonic.
EEE is entity mnemonic.
xx is sequence number.
T is Type where:
P = Physical.
L = logical.
The Physical has always sequence 00.

For other sources we use:
SSSEEEUxxT
SSS is system mnemonic.
EEE is entity mnemonic.
- for most programs the main activity is geared to one Entity.
If that is not viable we choose something that is related to the function of
the program.
U is Use where:
A = Add.
C = Copy.
D = DataDefinition (configuration tables maintenance programs).
M = Module.
S = Select.
P = Process
xx is sequence number when we have more programs for this entity for the same
Use.
T is DefinitionType where:
R = RPG.
C = CLP
S = Spoolfile.
D = Display.

In this way we get all related sources nicely grouped.
We use One SourceFile for all sources of the same system.
Not waterproof (specially because there will be more types possible than we are
using) but does serve us very much.

Regards,
Eduard.

We do:
Xxxyzzzzzz
X = system (mnemonic)
Y = object type (e.g. 'M' for module)
Z = description (mnemonic)

OrdMDtl = Order Detail Module

I think this works really well. I hated having to work with object
names using a numeric naming system at a previous job.

On similar note; how do you guys name your modules? With the 3 pieces I
have never figured out a really good method. I have just been copying
and old method of a previous co-worker and I don't really like it.
