When I started with AFP (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) I just
used the DDS reference in conjunction with the Printing Redbook. For
drawing lines, use the LINE keyword.
The key to understanding AFP is that you aren't limited to drawing from
the top of the page down to the bottom. It's perfectly acceptable to
draw a BOX at the top, another at the bottom, then fill in the headings
at the top, then the total at the bottom and finally stuff the detail
lines in the middle.
Read up on POSITION and ENDPAGE. You can't readily mix absolute (by
line) and relative (POSITION) on the same page, and you haven't finished
a page no matter how many lines you've printed until you've done ENDPAGE.
