The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Mmmm...dumb question...why don't they just use RDB/ODBC(or SOMETHING) to
SQL the data directly into the MySQL database? Seems it would be a much
better approach than generating XML...

Did the Java guys say why you needed to go to this format vs. XML?

if it would be easier for them if you produced the same thing in XML
instead.
They seem to think that this would be too difficult to do in RPG. I only
just realised that we are reading from our database into our own kind of
text file that I gave as an example earlier. The Java people will then
convert these files to real XML and use them to make their own database
that
is effectively a copy of ours but for MySQL. Is this reasonable?
