The max length is known at compile time, right? Maybe it could be treated
like a constant, where the compiler just replaces any occurrence of
"%maxlen(myVar)" with the length I typed in the D-spec for myVar. I say
"the compiler just replaces", but I don't know enough about compilers in
general or the RPG compiler specifically to have any idea of how difficult
this might be in practice.
