You don't say where you need to do this. The answer will vary some based on that. I will try it in embedded SQL in RPG, since this is the RPG list - heh.

There are several ways to construct a WHERE clause to accomplish this:

1. WHERE MDLNBR LIKE '00__a%' OR MDLNBR LIKE '00__t%'
2. WHERE SUBSTR(MDLNBR, 1, 2) = '00' and SUBSTR(MDLNBR, 5, 1) IN ('a', 't')
3. WHERE MDLNBR LIKE '00%' and SUBSTR(MDLNBR, 5, 1) IN ('a', 't')
