Buck,

Almost any temporary debug printing I do nowadays, I put my values together
into one print line from inside the calc-specs, just seems easier...

Or sometimes I have a flat physical file I call WRKF maybe 136 long or 202 long
and just write things out to that, and it's even less complicated (a little
less anyway).

Not at V5R4 but I can tell you I sure wished I could, especially now
that we have qualified data structures. The obvious use case is a
report, but I've been known to use a printed log for debugging purposes,
(toggled on/off at runtime.) Said log has critical data elements
printed within critical sections of the code. This is typically used
for server programs, with no external UI. The obvious workaround is to
concatenate the various elements into a single, shorter-named field.
